Amanda Goodhew – Principal Partnerships Consultant
How long have you worked for Northcoders?
I’ve been at Northcoders for three weeks now, and it’s been quite a journey so far.
What does your job role entail?
My role at Northcoders is beyond exciting. I will be helping to raise the profile of Northcoders in London, so we can replicate the huge successes we’ve achieved in Leeds and Manchester. Although our team has already made fantastic inroads in the nation’s capital, there are still many more businesses that need to know about the great work we do here!
What did you do before your role at Northcoders?
Originally from London and now living in Hertfordshire, I come from a recruitment background with over 20 years of experience (yikes!). Throughout my career, I’ve specialised in the digital space, working with a wide range of professionals, including UX/UI designers, digital creatives, 2D/3D motion artists, SaaS sales teams, and more. The list is long and diverse, and I’ve loved every minute of it!
When I’m not working, I’m mostly ferrying my ten-year-old twins from one club to another.
Why do you enjoy working in tech?
I have always enjoyed the digital world, as it places you at the forefront of innovation and surrounds you with some of the brightest minds you could hope to encounter!
How can you and the wider team at northcoders help businesses find the right tech talent?
Essentially, we help businesses diversify and enrich their teams by introducing exceptionally well-trained, diverse junior tech talent. Simple! Historically, people like our phenomenal graduates have not had access to the tech sector for many reasons. Now, if someone from any walk of life passes our stringent pre-vetting process and earns a highly coveted place on one of our government-funded courses, they receive Northcoders’ stellar teaching at our coding school, along with support in finding an entry-level job.
The bar is high, and the pre-qualification for the courses is tough, but it’s a huge win for diversifying the tech industry when our Northcoders join the workforce!
A fun fact about you
I eat Encona hot sauce with everything. I take it on holiday, carry it in my handbag, and when I lived in the Gulf for nine years, friends and family would have to fly bottles of it over to me. Once, I even smashed a bottle on the floor during a client meeting!
