Meet Aishia, a Partnership Consultant at Northcoders, sharing insights into her new role at Northcoders.
Introduce yourself
Hi, I’m Aishia, a Partnerships Consultant predominantly covering Yorkshire but also anywhere outside of the North-West and London.
What does your job role entail?
My job role entails building meaningful relationships with employers across the UK including existing partners and potential new partners! It also involves sourcing opportunities for our fantastic graduates and helping the students secure their first roles in tech.
What did you do before your role at Northcoders?
Before joining Northcoders, I worked in tech recruitment for seven years. Those roles enabled me to build valuable connections within the Leeds tech scene and beyond, which I now bring to my role at Northcoders.
Why do you enjoy working in tech?
I love how immersive tech can be, even if you’re not the most technical person! There’s always an opportunity to learn something new and get involved in different areas, and I think it’s one of the few industries that truly allows for cross-functional collaboration.
How can you and the wider team at Northcoders help businesses find the right tech talent?
In short, we help reduce the noise around junior recruitment for employers. The tech market is already saturated, especially when it comes to hiring juniors, so our approach not only alleviates this stress for employers but also ensures they receive the best talent. Each candidate has completed a 13-week training programme and has received support from our fantastic careers team before being passed to us in the partnerships team, where we shortlist and match them to the best roles.
A fun fact about you?
I live for karaoke—my go-to songs include anything by Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, and Alanis Morissette (N.B. I absolutely cannot sing). I recently learned the Spanish version of Hero just for fun (N.B. I don’t speak Spanish).
